TELEPHONE BANKING

The main banks and building societies offer 24-hour telephone banking. This lets you check your balance, amend automatic payments, order statements, pay bills or arrange a loan over the phone.

ONLINE BANKING

More and more banks are offering online banking. This allows you to perform the same functions as telephone banking, and also allows you to print out statements and transfer account information into a spreadsheet or a personal finance software package.

PROBLEMS AND COMPLAINTS

If your bank makes a serious error, mechanisms exist to put things right and pay compensation if necessary.
