Cabinet War Rooms

Cabinet War Rooms are situated in Churchill War Rooms in London. These Cabinet War Rooms were very useful for conducting a secret meeting for carrying out strategic planning during the Second World War.

Cabinet War Rooms

These war rooms were built in such a way that they would be easily hidden or concealed. Thus, these crucial meetings were held in the basement. The Cabinet War Rooms were used to its fullest capacity from 1939 when Britain and Germany were engaged in war.

During the war period, these war rooms were not only used for holding secret meetings, but it also provided a safe place to hide for Churchill and his government.

Cabinet War Rooms Facts

In 1940, when the Blitz bombing incidence occurred, the Cabinet War Room were concealed by spreading a thick layer of the concrete slab over it. In 1941, the protection given to the war rooms was increased.

This enabled the British to expand the size of the rooms. However, this safety heaven during the war was abandoned soon after the war ceased.

Imperial War Museum

In 1984, the Imperial War Museum opened these rooms to the public. These rooms give us an idea as to what all went on behind the scenes and how the attack on the enemy on the battle-field was planned.
