Ljubljana Aerodrom

Ljubljana airport, also known as Brnik, is situated 26 km’s from the city center. Ljubljana airport (Aerodrome) is situated some 20 km North of Ljubljana in the direction of Kranj. The international airport code is LJU. Previously known as Brnik Airport, recently it has been renamed to Joze Pucnik Airport, after a contemporary Slovenian statesman. There are cheap flights to Ljubljana from several European cities.

Ljubljana Airport Arrivals

The airport arrival times can be tracked online at the airport’s homepage. A miniature arrival hall offers a small space to meet your friends. There are a cafe and a branch of the tourist office where you can get some maps of Ljubljana, travel tips for Slovenia and approximate instructions on how to get to the city.

Ljubljana Airport Departures

On the left-hand side, there are the check-in desks and sales offices of Adria Airlines. Other airlines with sales offices at Ljubljana airport also include AirFrance, Malev, CSA, EasyJet, LOT, JAT airlines and Turkish Airlines. The airport departures can be checked online. All check-ins are subject to the European air safety rules. In the departure hall, you will also find a cafe serving croissants, sandwiches and pizza’s, and offer your last chance for a “gibanica” or Union beer from the tap. At the airport departure lounge, you will also find a souvenir shop, exchange office, restaurant, self-service restaurant, and bar. Entering the VIP saloon costs some 70 Euros.

Modes of Travel to Airport :

By Road

Take the E61 motorway out of town; follow the signs and turn right towards the airport (Aerodrom).
There are 400 parking spaces in front of the terminal, with an additional 1000 spaces at the entrance of airport complex. Charges: 30 mins parking free of charge, two to four hrs costs 450,00 SIT. The cost for long-term parking (between 8 and 14 days) is 960SlT/day. Distances to major towns: Kranj 11 km, Bled 33 km, Celje 74 km, Novo Mesto 97 km, Celovec 62 km, and Beljak 77 km.

By Coach

On weekdays there is an hourly service between the airport and the city center. On weekend days and holidays this becomes a two-hourly service. The trip takes 45 minutes. Tickets are sold on the bus. Bus fares are subject to change – please contact the bus station, telephone 090 4230.
Alternatively, you can take the airport Shuttle Connection which takes 30 minutes. Tickets can be purchased on the bus.

By Taxi

Taxis are available in front of the terminal building. A journey to Ljubljana city center costs approx. 35 €.
By train
There are regular bus services to the main railway station in Ljubljana. Journey time is approximately 15 minutes.
