Slovenia Ski Resorts

A generous amount of snowfall is Mother Nature’s reward for the managers of Slovenia’s ski resorts for their efforts and investments in the development of airlifts. Most ski resorts offer après ski, which meets the demands of modern clients who find it important, besides well-maintained ski runs and reliable service, to be able to fully enjoy themselves in the chalets on the slopes immediately after skiing.

Slovenia Ski Resorts

All the ski resorts in Slovenia are suitable for families, offering plenty of beginner and intermediate runs, and very competitively priced ski lessons, in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. The major ski resort in Slovenia is Kranjska Gora, sitting on the Italian and Austrian borders, in the gorgeous alpine Zgornjesavska Valley. The host of the Alpine Skiing World Championships, Kranjska Gora is home to some fantastic challenging competitive runs, however, the majority of the slopes are gentle and wide, with the 30km of pistes offering something for everyone.

In Slovenia, there are dozens of well-tended ski resorts, with lift systems, the best known being Slovenia skiing Kranjska Gora and Mariborsko Pohorje, which both also host Alpine Skiing World Cup races. In the coming season, the annual women’s races for the Golden Fox Trophy at Pohorje will take place in late January, while Kranjska Gora will welcome men competing for the Vitranc Trophy towards the end of February. Both competitions traditionally consist of slalom and a giant slalom event.

A firm favorite for the people of Ljubljana is the Mt Krvavec winter resort, which is only a thirty-minute drive away from the capital. The trails lie on pastureland, so there is no need for large amounts of snow in order to enjoy good skiing. In optimal winter conditions, the Slovenia skiing season can last up to 150 days.

The best thing about the Slovenia ski resorts is that most of them have extended illuminated ski slopes around the corner and this enables for ‘anytime’ skiing in the neighborhood. However, only a few resorts come with artificial snowy slopes that are exciting too. Demanding arrangements and quality service are catered in each resort, making the guests feel comfortable. Each resort offers an array of entertainment and thermal water swimming pool to add refreshment to the active days. Equipment rental is available at all resorts.
