Biltmore Castle South carolina

Castles, in the Middle Ages, served as home and fortress of a monarch or noble. Castles were built on steep hillsides or at the top of rocky cliffs having marvelous gardens around. On the whole, the Castle gives a feeling of royalty.

The perfect combination of the castle in a breathtaking clifftop location, stunning view of the green estate, calming walks and atmosphere, the luxurious family home of George and Edith Vanderbilt is a marvel of elegance and charm. George W. Vanderbilt created this estate as a grand retreat in gilded ages. Biltmore Estate is older more than a century ago but the original collection is zealously preserved.

This 8000-acre estate is home to forested trails and beautiful gardens. This architectural jewel was designed by Fredrick Law Olmsted, the father of American landscape architecture, to design the gardens and trails.

The visit to the Biltmore Castle spans three floors and the basement. The self-guided house includes an audio tour which helps a lot with a detailed history and interesting facts and knowledge. The castle features 250 rooms, 35 bedrooms, 43 bathrooms, 65 fireplaces, an old-time library, 70 feet high banquet hall. Displays of Vintage clothing, accessories, art, furniture and more that tell stories and illustrate the lives of Vanderbilt family, their guests and their employees too.

Another famous and amazing thing is the Winery in the Biltmore Estate grounds and complimentary wine tasting. It’s a pleasure going to a winery. One can get to select and taste the wines from standard white to full-bodied red selections, on most tastings. Fantastic hospitality and knowledgeable staff at the wine tasting as well as in the retail shop. One can join the Vanderbilt wine club and get free samples. The most interesting part is the wine and chocolate pairing. It also includes a short tour and history of the winery.

Location- Castle is considered to be America’s largest home located in North Carolina in the heart of Asheville and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
