Brits Awards is an event that is held in the United Kingdom in which awards are given for British and international pop. The ceremony is held every year in February.

Collop Monday also referred to as Shrove Monday is held on February 11. On this day collops of bacon are served along with eggs. The collops which are chunks of fat or meat are also used for the pancakes served on the following day.

Shrove Tuesday

Shrove Tuesday also known as Pancake Day is held the day after Collop Monday. It is a Christian carnival day that is held the day before Lent begins. On this day, pancakes are served. This day marks the end of the Epiphany.

In London, on Shrove Tuesday, the Great Spitalfields Pancake Race is held. The race begins at Dray Walk at 12:30 pm.

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent which is a 40-day event. This is a Christian holiday (February Holidays) in which many Christians use as a time of fasting and for deeper religious thoughts.

In Scotland, at one time there was a law in place that a man could not refuse the proposal on this day. If he refused he was charged with a very large fine.
